Manager, Technical Product Owner

Reports To: SVP, Digital Technical Products

We are seeking an experienced and agile Technical Product Owner to lead internal teams and third-party development partners through an exciting phase of growth and innovation. This role will play a key part in partnering with product design, application development teams, business management, and PMO functions to deliver products that customers love. You will drive growth in both commercial and personal insurance offerings by contributing to the development of a modern, digital-first brokerage that delivers protective solutions for individuals and businesses alike.

As a Manager, Technical Product Owner, you will be passionate about enabling seamless customer acquisition, service, and advice, while driving the capacity for business growth across all distribution channels. You will thrive in a fast-paced environment, empower teams to work autonomously, and collaborate effectively with internal teams, contractors, and third-party development partners.


Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with business units, product teams, internal developers, third-party partners, and Agile sprint teams to translate roadmaps into actionable technical implementations.
  • Act as the product evangelist and subject matter expert for the developer community.
  • Facilitate communication and vision alignment across business, development, data, platform, and operations teams.
  • Gather and analyze customer needs, translating them into detailed requirements for sprints.
  • Continuously improve organizational effectiveness to capitalize on opportunities that enhance the customer experience.
  • Stay informed about emerging technology trends and their potential impact on business roadmaps.
  • Conduct competitor analysis and regularly evaluate platform capabilities.
  • Identify and address technical risks related to the digital platform.
  • Oversee the creation and maintenance of comprehensive technical product requirements and documentation.

  • Strong expertise in digital product development for both B2C and B2B2C markets.
  • Ability to synthesize cross-industry technical capabilities into a cohesive product vision.
  • Proven collaboration across technical, business, marketing, and IT teams.
  • Experience setting and driving product and technology vision while owning outcomes.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated success in creating products that drive growth through exceptional customer experiences.
  • Inspirational leadership skills with a focus on fostering trust and team empowerment.

Qualifications

  • Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years in technical and/or product development, with at least 3-5 years as a Product Owner, Product Manager, or Technical Manager.
  • Proven track record of managing high-engagement digital products on flexible, service-based platforms (e.g., mobile, APIs, cloud-based systems).
  • Background in commercial or personal insurance is highly desired.
  • Experience managing product backlogs, refining user stories, and prioritizing features to maximize business value.
  • Technical Skills:

  • Proficient with project management tools such as Jira and Confluence.
  • Familiarity with mobile development, React, Python, and modern SaaS platforms is a plus.
  • Knowledge of APIs, microservices, and cloud technology.
  • Soft Skills:

  • Strong communication skills, comfortable facilitating discussions with developers, UX teams, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and deadline-focused.
  • Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a technical or software-related field.
