Location: Green Bay, WI (remote first team)
Position Summary
As an Engineering Manager at the client, you will lead a team of engineers building the technology and data platforms that help the world’s leading shippers reduce transportation costs, build more efficient networks, and decarbonize their supply chains.
This is a hands-on technical leadership role. You will stay close to the work, reviewing code and designs, coaching engineers, and shaping technical direction while owning the delivery, reliability, and security of everything your team builds and runs. You will also partner with stakeholders across the organization to drive product priorities, ensuring engineering effort aligns with the highest-impact outcomes.

Reliability & Support: Ensure appropriate on-call and incident-response coverage, driving post-incident learning and continuous improvement to meet service agreements.

Hands-on Involvement: Participate in code and design reviews, provide direct technical guidance, and stay close to the day-to-day work to accurately gauge quality and team capabilities.

Architecture & Standards: Guide architectural decisions, set engineering standards, and ensure the team builds scalable, maintainable, and secure software.

DevOps Culture: Champion improvements to DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and engineering tooling to increase delivery speed and reliability.

Metrics & Trends: Define and track project KPIs while staying current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices.

Qualifications
Required Experience
-
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a highly technical scientific discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Engineering Background: 7+ years of software engineering experience.

Leadership: 2+ years managing/leading engineers, or equivalent tech-lead experience.

Technical Stack: Hands-on experience across a modern stack such as Python, SQL, and JavaScript/TypeScript (Node.js, React).

Technical Proficiency: Strong ability to read/review code, participate in pull requests, evaluate technical designs, and understand application architectures and security best practices.

Modern Workflows: Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and a thoughtful view on integrating them into workflows.

Methodologies: Experience with Agile, Kanban, and Scrum.

Soft Skills: Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with a track record of partnering across business and product teams.
Preferred Experience

DevOps & Scale: Experience improving CI/CD pipelines and a strong grasp of distributed systems concepts (scalability, fault tolerance, performance trade-offs).

System Scope: Prior experience building and leading large-scale, high-performance systems within a product-focused tech team.

Team Dynamics: Experience working with remote and distributed teams, alongside a deep passion for mentoring and career development.
