VP of Trade Compliance

VP of Trade Compliance
Job Type: Full-time; HybridÂ
 Responsibilities:Â
- License Qualifier for the companyÂ
- Monitor and provide consultation on international business complianceÂ
- Provide international compliance training and education for employeesÂ
- Review and approve customers and vendorsÂ
- Communicate with U.S. Customs and ensure prompt responses to US Customs inquiries.Â
- Maintain FMC compliance as well as understand FMC regulations with the ability to re-file tariff schedules.Â
- Complete FMC re-filing and conduct related employee trainingÂ
- Plan and conduct internal customs entry audits to ensure error-free operations and regulatory complianceÂ
- Minimize late ISF entries as well as ensure timely customs entries and duty payments.Â
- Acquire and maintain C-TPAT certificationÂ
- Provide continuous internal education and training to comply with law and regulation for international business compliance and prevent import and export regulation violations
- Evaluate, introduce, and utilize compliance tools for customs operations and customer inquiriesÂ
- Implement AI technology for commodity classificationÂ
- Supervise, maintain and update company policy documents and licensesÂ
- Review and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and assist with implementation for the operations departmentÂ
- Automate manual operational processesÂ
- Develop and maintain the company’s compliance program (policies, procedures, manuals).Â
- Ensure compliance with U.S. federal and state laws, as well as applicable international regulations.Â
- Function as the liaison with the company to align compliance functions between the group and local practice standards.Â
Experience:Â
- Holding a US Customs Broker License is requiredÂ
- 10+ years of logistics or transportation experience is neededÂ
- 10+ years in managing a team is neededÂ
- Bachelor’s Degree is preferredÂ
- Import customs operation and international forwarding experience preferred but not requiredÂ
- Knowledge and work experience in legal affairs is preferredÂ
- Ability to communicate professionally with U.S. Customs officers and internal senior leadershipÂ
- Strong leadership and staff development skillsÂ
- Knowledge of Logistics, Supply Chain, and International regulationsÂ
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office platforms, particularly PowerPoint and ExcelÂ
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and writtenÂ
