Senior Staff Accountant

Location: North America (Remote)
Reports to: Senior Accounting Manager

Overview

We are seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to play a key role in supporting accurate financial reporting, strengthening internal processes, and ensuring compliance across core accounting functions. This individual will contribute to close activities, support technical accounting areas, partner cross-functionally, and help enhance the scalability and efficiency of the accounting operation. The role also includes mentorship of junior team members and participation in process improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Own portions of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting.

• Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.

• Support revenue recognition and deferred revenue accounting.

• Maintain and strengthen internal controls in compliance with GAAP and audit requirements.

• Assist with preparation of consolidated financial statements and variance analyses.

• Partner with cross-functional teams on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.

• Mentor and review the work of junior accounting staff.

• Identify and implement process improvements, including automation initiatives.

• Support internal and external audit requests and documentation.

• Stay current on evolving accounting standards and recommend process or policy updates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

• CPA (or progress toward certification) preferred.

• 4–6 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within a high-growth or technology environment.

• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.

• Experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, or similar).

• Advanced Excel skills (complex formulas, reconciliations, data analysis).

• Experience with revenue recognition and deferred revenue.

• Ability to review work and provide guidance to junior staff.

• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

• Effective communication skills with the ability to present financial insights clearly.

• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, scaling environment.
