Industrial Account Manager

Job Objective:
To establish and maintain long-term customer relationships by servicing assigned accounts and providing outstanding customer service. Drive differential growth among industrial accounts while optimizing profitability. Reinforce sales management practices to enhance all levels of sales and profit within the branch and industrial channel.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Customer Relations

  • Meet or exceed sales and profit goals established in consultation with branch management

  • Work closely with the Reliability Services team to optimize share-of-wallet opportunities

  • Define and cultivate the company’s value proposition for each assigned account and create account plans to maximize product and service offerings

  • Develop and actively manage a healthy pipeline aligned to growth goals

  • Execute the strategic roadmap to provide a superior customer experience for industrial accounts

  • Develop highly professional sales relationships with assigned industrial accounts

  • Collaborate with Purchasing, Product Line Management, Supply Chain, and Logistics to determine the lowest cost-to-serve and overall sales strategy

  • Maximize profitability in collaboration with vendor partners and internal teams

  • Collaborate with the Pricing Team to develop a profitable pricing strategy where the market allows

  • Present new products and services to customers

  • Follow up with customers on orders and inquiries

  • Maintain and update customer pricing

  • Ensure customer satisfaction and resolve complaints promptly

  • Promote company capabilities, marketing programs, and promotions

  • Explain company policies and procedures (e.g., warranties, collections, returns)

  • Coordinate order activity with customer service

  • Work with Credit Management for approvals on new accounts

Leadership

  • Mentor and train other associates as needed

  • Contribute to annual strategic planning and sales budgeting

  • Monitor sales trends and product performance

  • Coach inside sales on account growth and planning

  • Continuously enhance sales skills to maintain a professional image

Other Responsibilities

  • Attend relevant corporate, regional, and industry meetings

  • Maintain consistent, professional communication with management

  • Ensure customer account data is accurate in the system

  • Provide feedback to Warehouse and Credit departments as needed

  • Maintain a clean and organized vehicle

  • Support corporate programs and initiatives

  • Work overtime as needed

  • Willingness to travel 50–70%

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Training, negotiating, and problem-solving abilities

  • Patience and awareness of branch operations’ impact on customer experience

  • Ability to interpret marketing data, product channels, and customer segments

  • Sales and gross profit metrics

  • Growth in customer share-of-wallet

  • Growth in Reliability Services

  • Acquisition of net new accounts

  • Timely credit resolution per compensation plan

  • Customer satisfaction and feedback

  • Strategic product sales

  • Inventory and order management accuracy

  • Sales performance versus budget


Requirements

  • 5+ years of sales experience within the manufacturing or industrial sector
