Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire, with intended conversion to full-time employment

Industry: Insurance and financial services

About the Company

Our client is a large, national insurance and financial services organization with a significant employee and office footprint across North America. This role sits within the company’s centralized technology organization, inside an internal Automation and AI Center of Excellence.

About the Team

This is a mature, high-volume production automation environment, not a pilot program. The team supports a large fleet of unattended production robots and a growing library of automations, executing a high volume of automation jobs every month. Automations span claims processing, policy administration, financial reconciliation, compliance reporting, and regional operations.

The platform stack includes UiPath as the primary automation platform, Microsoft Power Platform, and leading enterprise AI tooling. The team is actively expanding into agentic automation patterns, so this role will work across both the established RPA estate and newer AI-assisted and agentic build work.

This is a hands-on build and support role with a genuine path into applied AI engineering. It is not a greenfield research role, and it is not a maintenance-only position.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy production-grade automations, primarily on UiPath, across multiple business lines and regional operations
  • Build and maintain complex bot architectures, including multi-system integrations, structured exception handling, retry logic, and recovery patterns
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues with minimal downtime, working alongside analysts and architects to triage incidents
  • Extend automation beyond UI-level RPA using Python, PowerShell, REST APIs, and webhook integrations
  • Compose AI services into automation workflows, including document understanding, classification, and language model calls
  • Build on a Power Platform front end with automation back end pattern, a standard delivery approach for the team
  • Contribute to a reusable library of components, templates, and integration patterns, and participate in code review against team standards
  • Implement logging, audit trails, and compliance-ready documentation for every automation deployed

What You’ll Bring

  • 3+ years of hands-on RPA development experience, with UiPath as your primary platform
  • Demonstrated experience building production-grade bots, including exception handling, logging, error recovery, and multi-system integration
  • Working knowledge of SQL for data manipulation and validation within automation workflows
  • A current UiPath developer certification
  • Experience delivering within an Agile model, including standups, sprint planning, and retrospectives
  • Authorization to work in the United States on a W-2 basis without sponsorship, now and in the future

Nice to Have

  • Python proficiency for scripting, data manipulation, and API integration
  • PowerShell for orchestration, environment work, and integration outside native RPA activities
  • Hands-on experience with REST APIs, webhook integrations, and modern integration patterns
  • Microsoft Power Platform experience, particularly Power Automate and Power Apps
  • Experience with AI-assisted development tooling
  • Exposure to agentic automation patterns, document understanding or intelligent document processing, and process or task mining
  • Experience with Automation Anywhere or other RPA platforms alongside UiPath
  • Git, CI/CD pipelines, and modern software engineering practices
  • Experience with Jira or Azure DevOps
  • Insurance or financial services industry experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, or equivalent demonstrated experience

Work Environment

This role is fully remote within the United States. Candidates must be physically located in and working from the United States for the full duration of the engagement; this is not an offshore or nearshore position. Core hours must overlap US Central time to allow real-time collaboration with engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders, and production support participation is part of the role.

Because this work touches production systems containing sensitive personal information, remote access is governed under the client’s security and AI governance controls. Candidates must be able to work from a private, secured location and must pass background and access review.

Growth Path

This engagement is intended to convert to full-time employment at the close of the evaluation period, subject to performance and continued US employment eligibility. The role includes a clear path toward blended RPA and AI workflows as the team’s automation and AI engineering work continues to grow.
