About the Opportunity

Hirewell is partnering with a growing, established distribution company in the northern Chicago suburbs to hire a Business Analyst. You’ll be the link between the business and a modern, AI-forward development team. You’ll uncover what stakeholders need, shape it into development-ready work, and stay involved through testing and delivery. The company builds much of its technology in-house, so your analysis will directly influence what gets built.

What You’ll Do

  • Work with business stakeholders to understand their goals, pain points, and the problems most worth solving
  • Run requirements workshops and interviews, and document current and future state processes with flow diagrams
  • Translate business needs into functional and technical requirements the IT team can act on
  • Partner with architects and developers to weigh solution options, spot dependencies, and confirm feasibility
  • Shape requirements into user stories with clear, testable acceptance criteria
  • Own and prioritize the product backlog alongside business owners
  • Take part in sprint planning, backlog refinement, reviews, and retrospectives
  • Serve as the go-to contact for requirements questions throughout the delivery lifecycle
  • Support QA with test cases and coordinate user acceptance testing
  • Manage scope changes and communicate their impact and trade-offs to stakeholders
  • Keep requirements traceable from business need through delivery, and produce business requirements documents, functional specs, and data mapping

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years as a Business Analyst in an IT or software development environment
  • A proven record of turning business needs into technical requirements
  • Strong user story writing with clear, testable acceptance criteria
  • Experience working with architects, developers, and QA in an Agile or Scrum team
  • Strong facilitation skills for sessions with both business and technical audiences
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including explaining technical concepts to non-technical people
  • Sharp analytical skills and a habit of asking the questions that uncover the real need
  • Experience supporting testing and user acceptance testing
  • Working knowledge of Azure DevOps or Jira, Confluence or similar documentation tools, process modeling (BPMN, swimlanes), and Visio or Lucidchart

Nice to Have

  • CBAP, CCBA, PMI-PBA, or CSPO certification
  • Experience with ERP or CRM systems and integrations
  • Basic understanding of data structures and APIs, plus SQL for analysis and validation
  • Wireframing experience (Figma or Balsamiq)
  • Exposure to supply chain or distribution environments
