Systems Administrator

Description

The Systems Administrator is part of the Engineering team and is responsible for assisting with the management of systems infrastructure at the firm. This position will administer, support, maintain, and perform upgrades to systems. The Systems Administrator will assist with day-today systems operations, infrastructure support, and escalation support of end users. The Systems Administrator will provide datacenter support at the corporate headquarters in downtown Chicago and the disaster recovery facility in the Chicago suburbs. The Systems Administrator must be willing to travel to the corporate disaster recovery facility as needed and also be willing to work weekends and nights as needed.

This position reports to the Director of Engineering. This position is based in Chicago, IL.

 

Primary Job Responsibilities

? Administer Windows Server environments including Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, and SQL Server environments

? Administer VMware ESXi virtual infrastructures

? Administer Symantec Backup Exec backup infrastructure

? Administer Symantec Endpoint Protection anti-virus

? Identify, review, and apply security updates to GTCR systems

? Perform general systems tuning and administration

? Assist in infrastructure planning for server and network upgrades emphasizing consolidation of services while maintaining high resource availability

? Monitor systems health, troubleshoot system issues, perform incident review and root cause analysis

? Apply operating system updates and patches

? Install and configure new hardware and software for servers and workstations leveraging software deployment systems as applicable

? Perform routine audits of systems and software

? Participate and contribute in group IT projects

? Plan, manage, and implement individually assigned projects

? Document relevant configurations, processes and procedures

 

Required Technical Skills

? Windows Server 2008 R2, 2012 R2, 2016, Active Directory, Group Policies

? Windows 7, 10, Office 2013 and Office 2016

? VMware vSphere 5 or 6

? Symantec Backup Exec and Endpoint Protection

? Experience with VBScript or other scripting tools

 

Desired Technical Skills

? Microsoft Exchange Server 2010, SQL Server 2008 & 2012, IIS, and SCCM ? O365 Administration

? Citrix XenApp or XenDesktop

? AirWatch or other MDM solutions

? RSA SecureID or other two-factor solutions

? Proficiency with security infrastructures such as firewalls, intrusion detection, virus, spam and auditing systems.

? Cisco Networking and IP Telephony (Cisco Unified Communication)

? Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems or Computer Science

? Valid MCITP or MCSE preferred

? 3-5 years of experience in a senior technical support/systems administration role
