Sr. Java Engineer – Scala / Akka – (89-1)

Job Title: Scala Developer – Akka
 

Job Description: 

Our client is a leader in the construction industry. They have an immediate need for a Software Engineer 5 (a Scala/Akka Engineer with expert level knowledge in both). This position is a 12+ month contract. It is 100% remote but candidates local to Chicago who are willing to go onsite a few days/month will be given preference.

Education Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer science or Electrical engineering or related field is required and 10+ years of overall experience

Technical Skills

-Strong Java 8 or 11 (5+ years)

-Scala programming experience (2+ years primarily used over the last 2 years)

-Significant Akka data streaming experience (3+ years primarily used over the last 2 years)

-AWS or other Cloud experience DevOps (we use Azure DevOps)

Typical Day

-Perform all programming, project management, and development assignments without close supervision; normally assigned the more complex aspects of systems work.

-Works directly on complex application/technical problem identification and resolution, including responding to off-shift and weekend support calls.

-Works independently on complex systems or infrastructure components that may be used by one or more applications or systems.

-Drives application development focused around delivering business valuable features

-Communicate with end users and internal customers to help direct development, debugging, and testing of application software for accuracy, integrity, interoperability, and completeness

-Performs integrated testing and customer acceptance testing of components that requires careful planning and execution to ensure timely, quality results.
