As a marketplace with 4,000+ brands and 500 retail partners, we enable consumers to save money and instantly pay for in-store or online purchases at their favorite stores using their digital mobile wallet. In addition to offering value and convenience for consumers, we allow retailers to unlock a new, data-driven channel to activate targeted segments of the platform’s more than 2.5 million members.
Our corporate accounting department, located in downtown Chicago, is offering for hire a position as a Senior Accountant. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for the Company’s accounting records and will provide a variety of accounting functions, including but not limited to: (i) general ledger reconciliations; ; (ii) assisting in closing the books (monthly “hard” close); (iii) reviewing accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR); (iv) providing support for the annual financial statement audit (Big4 auditor).  
 
This candidate should be a self-driven individual who can also suggest, implement and maintain internal controls, while providing ad hoc assistance to the Accounting Manager, as needed.  This is a highly visible role with opportunities to work with cross-functional teams and key members of the organization, such as the Sr. VP of Finance. We are looking for a fun, energized individual who is willing to provide accounting guidance and leadership, while still willing to roll-up their sleeves and get into the details as required.
 

Responsibilities 

  • Maintain the general ledger by reviewing and reconciling various accounts daily and monthly;
  • Prepare management estimates for month-end close purposes;
  • Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce financial reports or statements;
  • Sign-off/complete month-end balance sheet and P&L reconciliations;
  • Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls;
  • Ensure the timely remittance and collection of funds due (AP and AR);
  • Complete ad hoc projects to ensure financial accuracy 
  • Protect operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential;
  • Contribute to team effort by working with cross-functional teams, including operations;

 

Skills & Qualifications

  • Two (2+) plus years relevant accounting experience;
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred;
  • Strong technical accounting (GAAP) skills in addition to excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • A high level of integrity, accuracy, dependability, enthusiasm and confidentiality;
