Assistant Vice President (Power BI Developer)

Position Responsibilities

In this role, your primary responsibilities involve designing, developing, enhancing, and supporting data analytic dashboards and reports across various functions using Power BI. The successful candidate should have a proven track record of working in data-intensive environments, delivering robust and innovative reporting solutions to end-users. You will need to gain a deep understanding of our enterprise data models, operational systems, and enterprise data warehouse to design and deliver impactful analytic and reporting solutions that enhance critical business processes. This hands-on role requires critical thinking, a strong client focus, technical expertise, and the ability to execute and deliver effectively.

Responsibilities include:

• Proficiency in Power BI, Power BI modeling, and Power BI Paginated reports, staying updated on developments in these technologies. Independently conducting sophisticated data analysis across multiple platforms using Excel, Power BI, Power BI Paginated, or other available tools. Strong data analytics skills to address data-related issues.
• Utilizing reporting tools to create and deliver dashboards and reports to stakeholders using an agile-like methodology to enhance stakeholder engagement and accelerate time to market.
• Expertise in developing SQL scripts to validate financial and statistical measures presented in Power BI and Power BI Paginated reports. Applying the enterprise vision and strategy to project solutions while balancing tactical requirements for successful delivery.
• Leading a team of report developers daily, providing technical and leadership guidance.
• Creating comprehensive requirements documentation, including user stories, use cases, design specifications, business processes, data flows, and acceptance criteria. Being accountable for deliverables by managing project scope, time, and quality effectively. Ensuring that all delivered solutions meet the highest quality standards and fulfill specified business requirements through rigorous validation and testing.
• Handling support issues raised by the business through to resolution and within defined support SLAs.
• Actively participating in meetings and maintaining frequent communication with all levels of the organization, including key stakeholders and senior management. Demonstrating resourcefulness by proactively identifying and engaging available resources and subject matter experts in related areas to achieve goals, with a strong ability to multitask, manage time, and prioritize under pressure while meeting deadlines.

Candidate Requirements Qualifications & Experience:

• A bachelor’s degree or equivalent education, along with 3-5 years of work experience in a similar role, preferably in the Financial Services sector.
• 3-5 years of high-quality experience with:
  • SQL (preferably T-SQL), including familiarity with SQL development tools like SQL Server Management Studio and/or Azure Data Studio.
  • Power BI, including Power BI Desktop, Power BI Report Builder (Paginated/SSRS), Power BI Premium Service, Power Query Editor, and M development.
  • DAX development.
• 3-5 years of direct experience in leading a team of report developers.
• Familiarity with the agile development cycle and common software development principles, including tools such as Microsoft DevOps and common version control technologies like Git/GitHub.
• Familiarity with tabular data models in SSAS, AAS, or Power BI Premium for data analysis and visualization purposes; experience with Azure Cloud is a plus.
• Strong data analysis skills, with experience completing small to medium-sized projects and a general understanding of Project Management principles.
