The mission is to advocate for access to legal information and support the legal information profession by cultivating the growth of our members, connecting them with each other, and championing the value of legal information and legal information professionals. We provide members with professional development, advocacy resources, and networking opportunities to grow in their careers as well as to advance the profession. The membership and engagement manager will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to increase member engagement, retention, and growth. This role involves managing membership services, coordinating member events, and working extensively with association management databases. The ideal candidate will have a passion for building relationships and delivering exceptional member experiences.


– Establish short and long-term strategic membership objectives.
– Direct and manage year-long membership recruitment (new and former members), engagement, and retention campaign strategies.
– Develop campaign schedules and timelines and utilize data analytics to track the effectiveness of recruitment and retention strategies.
– Prepare and analyze weekly and monthly reports from the Association Management System (AMS), providing current statistical information on membership, as well as reports to update on progress of meeting recruitment and retention goals.
– Oversee and coordinate the mentorship program.
– Write and oversee the production of membership materials, such as correspondence and marketing collateral, in collaboration with marketing and communications staff and other Association staff.
– Maintain and update a highly accurate membership database which includes creating new member records, updating existing records, and merging duplicate records.
– Effectively manage daily membership operations and customer service, collaborating with the Coordinator of Administrative Services to create invoices, process new and renewing memberships, apply payments, and update member profiles as needed.
– Assist Coordinator of Administrative Services to reconcile membership batch reports in AMS with the financial system.
– Perform other duties as assigned.

– Develop, write, and produce communication vehicles directed to members (e.g., monthly new member onboarding emails, anniversary letters).
– Update membership and career center information on the website as needed.
– Review all member-related website functions and collaborate with the Director of Information Technology to update as needed (e.g., dues renewal process, updating member demographics).
– Manage the new member onboarding program, working to improve communications and engagement.
– Manage and create campaigns to promote online engagement through the Association’s community platform.
– Plan and manage the Member Services booth, onsite career resources, and the Newcomers Networking Kickoff at the yearly Annual Meeting & Conference.
– Prepare and pack materials needed for chapter conference visits.
– Perform other duties as assigned.

– Serve as staff liaison to committees and other entities as assigned.
– Work collaboratively with members, Association leaders, staff, and vendors.

– Bachelor’s degree plus at least three years of relevant professional experience.
– Ability to analyze member data to support programs that increase member engagement; experience using Excel features and formulas to manipulate data is preferred but not required.
– Outstanding written and oral communication skills with the ability to convey information in an easy-to-understand, compelling, and engaging manner.
– Experience with association management systems/membership databases.
– Must demonstrate an ability to assume responsibility and pay keen attention to detail.
– Must be self-directed; comfortable working autonomously while being accountable to high-level leadership; ability to work independently, multitask, prioritize workload, and produce deliverables by deadlines.
