As a Mechanical Engineering Manager, you will work with a multi-functional engineering team that consists of mechanical, chemical, and electrical engineers along with mechanical and electrical engineering technicians. The Mechanical Engineering Manager leverages his or her experience with technical and personnel leadership, engineering and project management, CAPEX, and budgeting and forecasting to manage engineering projects effectively. You will be responsible for all engineering activities (from concept to final acceptance) for CAPEX projects (up to, but not limited to, $40M), automation, machine designs (new and retrofits), tooling designs, packaging/make lines, and process optimization. This role will be leading the team to engineer new systems for the site. This hands-on manager will also support manufacturing with day-to-day operations through projects, process optimization, automation, machine, tooling, and process designs. The Mechanical Engineering Manager reports to the VP/GM.


As a Mechanical Engineering Manager, some of your essential duties and responsibilities may include:

  • Working with a team of forward-thinking individuals that are well-versed on industry standards and best practices to identify creative solutions for a diverse set of design and engineering challenges
  • Placing your skills toward the creation of products, machines, and processes that have a positive impact on the business
  • Practicing data analysis to propose methods of project execution and continuous improvement
  • Managing time effectively by understanding assignment requirements, prioritizing objectives, and scheduling tasks accordingly
  • Leading a team of mechanical and electrical technicians along with mechanical, electrical, controls, and process engineers to complete projects, initiatives, and product and equipment designs and processes
  • Developing and managing the team’s career planning, developmental growth, and ratings
  • Developing, deploying, monitoring, and measuring internal design standards within all engineering subgroups
  • Preparing, communicating, and monitoring individual workloads to optimize and adhere to project schedules as well as capacity management
  • Developing department best practices and standard operating procedures
  • Providing technical expertise on strategic initiatives to senior management by communicating how you create and deploy new and unique approaches in automation and product and equipment designs and processes
  • Promoting good communication and engagement amongst internal and external teams to ensure collaboration, alignment, and manufacturing excellence
  • Leading focus teams to improve safety, day-to-day operations, equipment process reliability (PR), and quality
  • Developing and maintaining equipment specifications for purchased equipment
  • Hands-on designing, modeling, and analyzing components and assemblies using SolidWorks CAD software
  • Developing and maintaining plant layouts using AutoCAD or 3D layouts
  • Ensuring manufacturing excellence by employing DEWP disciplines on all projects
  • Building and testing prototype designs for proof of concepts and functional validations
  • Developing protocols and performing product and process verification and validation testing where required





Key Qualifications


You may fit well into this role if you:

  • Have experience as a manager and a strong knowledge of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and CAPEX management systems
  • Are disciplined, organized, and able to communicate effectively
  • Have a strong work ethic and are able to multi-task
  • Have advanced computer skills and a confident command of MS Office, SolidWorks, and 3D solid modeling programs
  • Have experience working with and designing metal stamping, injection molding, tablet/compaction press, high-speed assembly and/or packaging equipment
  • Have experience with cam and gear engineering
  • Experience using statistical analysis is preferred


Education &



Please consider applying if you have:

  • A Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred
  • 5+ years of experience as a manager
  • 5-10 years in a manufacturing environment and experience with project management
  • A strong practical knowledge of mechanical engineering design concepts
  • Experience with capital projects up to $5MM is preferred
  • Experience with budgets, forecasting, and CAPEX management is preferred
  • Machine automation trouble-shooting skills is a strong plus
  • Demonstrated experience with process automation, machine design, machining and fabrication are preferred
