We are seeking a Director of Human Resources with 10+ years of experience to join our team in Chicago. This is an exciting opportunity to be a key member of the team.

The position will be based in our downtown/Fulton Market Chicago office. We currently operate in a hybrid work model with a majority of days in the office. In-person collaboration and learning are integral to our culture and success in this role.

We are seeking a versatile human resource professional to build, manage, and support employee engagement, talent acquisition, total rewards, and HR operations. This individual will be a self-starter and have human resource generalist experience, a strong work ethic, and excellent communication skills. We seek candidates with demonstrated ability to oversee the day-to-day management of an office, onboard new talent, and work as a team player across the organization. The individual will have primary responsibility for human resources matters within the firm and should stay well-informed on best practices in HR and employment matters. This person will have strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills and be able to proactively manage and adapt to a growing and changing environment.

We currently have 30 staff members located in our Chicago office, and we anticipate additional growth moving forward. The environment here is highly entrepreneurial and diverse. Culture building and maintenance are of high importance. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to make their mark on the organization by advising senior management on best practices in managing human capital. Leadership skills are of utmost importance as this individual will be leading the office staff and serve as a mentor to people within the organization. The primary areas for which this individual will be accountable:

• Employee Relations

  • Work with the Senior Managing Directors that lead the firm’s Enterprise Management team to oversee the day-to-day affairs of the office
  • Human resource consulting – provide guidance to all levels of management and employees
  • Partner with Enterprise Management leadership to implement an HR plan to engage the team through events and programming throughout the year
  • Oversee employee engagement feedback and implementation of improvement plans
  • Lead event planning within the company to maximize employee satisfaction and to optimize business culture

• Recruitment

  • Design and implement strategies to attract and engage with high-caliber talent
  • Manage onboarding efforts, benefits administration, and programming including support of 401k plans
  • Oversee the Internship program

• Learning and Development

  • Identify training programs to align with company needs including career development, compliance, and professional and technical skills
  • Contribute to diversity, equity & inclusion (DE&I) efforts

• Manage employment matters and employee benefits program • Stay up-to-date on human resources best practices

Preferred skills, capabilities, and experience:

• 10+ years of relevant human resource experience
• Bachelor’s degree required, preferably with a concentration in human resources or related discipline
• Relevant master’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field a plus • Strong interest in human resources and talent acquisition efforts and intellectual curiosity to build knowledge of the business
• Cross-functional human resources knowledge, business acumen, and solid understanding of employment laws and associated employee benefits
• Well-developed organizational skills to facilitate implementation of enterprise-wide initiatives
• Irreproachable character and integrity
• Strategic mindset and ability to drive human resources agenda
• High technical acumen; engaged with technology and relevant understanding of latest human resource software along with Microsoft Office products
• Prior management experience of a small office staff is a plus
• Experience in event planning
