The Systems Engineer is responsible for the management of systems infrastructure at Sterling Partners. This position will administer, support, maintain, and troubleshoot all systems related operations at the firm. The Systems Engineer will be responsible for day-to-day systems operations, infrastructure support, and escalation support of end users. This position will provide datacenter support at the corporate headquarters in downtown Chicago and remote support of systems at our Baltimore office. In addition, the Systems Engineer will lead the design and development of various new infrastructure and application components. The Systems Engineer must be willing to occasionally travel to our Baltimore location and must also be willing to work weekends and nights as needed.
This position reports directly to the Vice President of Information Technology.
Specific duties include:
â¢ Manage a Windows Server environment, including Active Directory, with a focus on high availability.
â¢ Manage and maintain the Microsoft Exchange environment including an external anti-spam service.
â¢ Manage and maintain the VMware ESX virtual infrastructures.
â¢ Manage the Citrix XenApp environment.
â¢ Administer multiple SQL Server environments and SharePoint farm.
â¢ Assist in infrastructure planning for server and network upgrades emphasizing consolidation of services while maintaining high resource availability.
â¢ Provide troubleshooting of server systems and enterprise applications.
â¢ Analyze needs, research and evaluate technical options, propose and implement solutions.
â¢ Manage and maintain server backups and off-site replication.
â¢ Manage anti-virus solution for servers and workstations.
â¢ Administer configuration changes through a change management discipline.
â¢ Manage software updates for servers and workstations.
â¢ Perform general systems tuning and administration.
â¢ Monitor state, health, and performance information of the server and network infrastructure.
â¢ Troubleshoot issues, perform incident review and provide root cause analysis as needed.
â¢ Document relevant configurations, processes and procedures.
â¢ Participate and contribute in group IT projects.
â¢ Plan, manage, and implement individually assigned projects.
â¢ Advise on workstation configurations and deployments.
â¢ Provide escalation support for end users.
