The Role:We are currently seeking a Sr. SQL Server Database Administrator to support our mission-critical database and ensure a stable infrastructure during peak times where a smooth running system is crucial to our business. Responsibilities: ·       Support 24x7x365 mission-critical database and application infrastructure, including participation in an on-call schedule. ·       Prepare database for heavy event-based processing peaks which may exceed average daily transaction processing by several orders of magnitude. ·       Support Business Intelligence group with development of Enterprise Reporting Solutions, OLAP Reporting, Data Marts and Star Schemas in support of enterprise reporting and analytics. ·       Responsible for Performance Tuning by monitoring efficient use of memory and CPU resources. ·       Responsible for monitoring alert logs, dump files and other logs for errors. ·       Identify performance bottlenecks due to waits and suggestions on how to address them. ·       Provide SQL Server database administration and support for development and production databases in a distributed environment. ·       Promote/migrate SQL-Server objects from development to production instances. ·       Work with application teams in creating supportable development, test, and production environments for application databases.  
 
Requirements
Responsibilities: ·       Support 24x7x365 mission-critical database and application infrastructure, including participation in an on-call schedule. ·       Prepare database for heavy event-based processing peaks which may exceed average daily transaction processing by several orders of magnitude. ·       Support Business Intelligence group with development of Enterprise Reporting Solutions, OLAP Reporting, Data Marts and Star Schemas in support of enterprise reporting and analytics. ·       Responsible for Performance Tuning by monitoring efficient use of memory and CPU resources. ·       Responsible for monitoring alert logs, dump files and other logs for errors. ·       Identify performance bottlenecks due to waits and suggestions on how to address them. ·       Provide SQL Server database administration and support for development and production databases in a distributed environment. ·       Promote/migrate SQL-Server objects from development to production instances. ·       Work with application teams in creating supportable development, test, and production environments for application databases.   Job Requirements: ·       Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, Engineering or a related field. ·       7+ years database design/architecture experience in a Microsoft SQL Server environment. ·       5+ years database administration operations experience in a Microsoft SQL Server environment. ·       Expert in physical data modeling and documentation. ·       Expert knowledge of Transact SQL. ·       Expert in strategies and approaches for physical database design, performance optimization, clustering and database replication. ·       Experience with integration of SQL Server to any version control system. ·       Experience with SQL Server 2005, SQL Clustering, Log shipping, and High-Availability highly desirable. ·       Ability to perform code and design reviews. ·       Experience working with different editions of SQL Server namely MSDE, Standard, Developer and Enterprise and familiarity with their usage and limitations. ·       Knowledge related to computer hardware including networks and storage devices (SANS). ·       Solid understanding of Windows environment, RAID Levels, etc. ·       Experience in quality assurance process. ·       Knowledge and understanding of disk capacity planning and monitoring. ·       Data migration and integration experience. ·       The following skill levels are a plus: o   ­MCDBA (Microsoft Certified Database Administrator)­ o   Knowledge of the .NET platform and services oriented architecture ­ o   MySQL Experience a plus­ o   Experience with multi-platform data extract, transform and/or load (ETL) processes and OLAP, query and/or extract tools and others­ o   Experience with SQL LiteSpeed, Lumigent LogExplorer, a plus­ o   Knowledge of SAN*s/Network Appliance storage hardware a plus­ o   Knowledge of SQL Server 2008 ·       Must possess excellent communication, organizational skills and project management skills. ·       Must be self-directed and effective working independently, yet equally comfortable contributing in a team environment. ·       Ability to handle multiple projects with competing deadlines in a fast paced environment. ·       eCommerce experience preferred. ·       Hands on experience on a fast paced internal development team.
